GTA 6 Disc Codes in Japan Expire 170 Days After Launch
Rockstar confirmed in a support FAQ that GTA 6 product codes sold in Japan will expire 170 days after the November 19, 2026 launch date due to regional regulations.
If you're picking up a physical copy of Grand Theft Auto VI in Japan, don't sit on that box — your in-box code has an expiry date. According to a June 24 FAQ posted on Rockstar Games' official support page, product codes included with Japanese retail copies of GTA 6 will expire 170 days after the game's launch date of November 19, 2026. That works out to just under six months from the moment you buy it.
Rockstar's official wording, as flagged by GameSpot, points to regional regulations as the reason for the restriction. No other territory has been given a similar time limit so far, making Japan a unique case among the game's global rollout.
A 170-day window isn't exactly generous. While most digital redemption codes do carry some form of expiry, the practice is far less common for codes bundled inside brand-new retail game boxes — and GTA 6 appears to be a rare high-profile example of it happening at launch. For collectors or anyone planning to hold onto a sealed copy for a while, it's a detail worth knowing before November arrives.
With GTA 6 still roughly four months out, it's possible other regions could surface similar fine print as Rockstar continues updating its support documentation ahead of release. Japanese fans buying physical should mark their calendars accordingly.
